Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Payroll Officer is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, compliance with tax regulations, and maintaining confidential employee payroll records. This role requires strong attention to detail, numerical proficiency, and knowledge of payroll legislation.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Payroll Processing

  • Process monthly/weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees.

  • Verify attendance, overtime, leaves, and other pay-related inputs.

  • Calculate bonuses, commissions, deductions (tax, insurance, loans, etc.).

  • Handle payroll adjustments (back pay, raises, promotions, terminations).

2. Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, labor regulations, and company policies.

  • Prepare and submit statutory filings (e.g., income tax, social security, pension funds).

  • Generate payroll reports for management and auditors.

  • Assist with year-end processes (e.g., tax forms, annual reconciliations).

3. Record Maintenance

  • Maintain and update employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, bank details).

  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies.

  • Ensure data security and confidentiality of payroll information.

4. Employee Support

  • Address payroll-related queries from employees and management.

  • Issue payslips and employment verification letters.

  • Collaborate with HR to align payroll with employee benefits (leave, bonuses).

5. System & Process Improvement

  • Use payroll software (e.g., SAP, ADP, Excel) to streamline processes.

  • Identify and implement payroll process efficiencies.

  • Assist in payroll system upgrades or migrations.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education: Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • Experience: 2+ years in payroll processing (experience with [local tax laws, e.g., Indonesia’s BPJS Ketenagakerjaan] is a plus).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Talenta, Zahir, SAP) and MS Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTables).

    • Understanding of accounting principles and labor regulations.

  • Soft Skills:

    • High accuracy and attention to detail.

    • Ability to handle confidential information.

    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
